Just what I was looking for: a light-weight HP laptop that has Microsoft lifetime non-subscription, upgraded features. I’ve been satisfactorily using Windows 10 on two 17-inch laptops (an HP and a Lenovo) for several years. But when Microsoft announced not supporting WIN 10 and encouraging the installation of WIN 11, I knew I would have to “bite the bullet” and upgrade before I ended up having to buy Windows 11. WIN 11 comes pre-installed. I’ve become accustomed to using Office suites since the mid-90s (okay, okay I’m now 78). Free pre-installation of the latest of the non-subscription Office suites (2024) was a big plus when considering the purchase of this new laptop. I hope I’m all set for the rest of my life. I was also looking for a laptop that–as I age–I could much more easily carry around the house than I can right now carry my 17-inchers. (It could also be easier to carry when I pack up other personals if ever notified to evacuate due to fire, wind, or earthquake.) Also, realizing that I didn’t necessarily need a 17-inch laptop any longer, I chose a less expensive 15-incher. By the way, validating the pre-installed Office 2019 is easy. Just don’t hurry, read everything on the screen as you work toward validation, and you’ll be done with that step in four minutes! Watch that you do not install Microsoft 365 ’cause you’ll have to pay for and subscribe to it. If you don’t need it, then Office is truly adequate for you. The legal pre-installed version of Office 2019 is genuine Microsoft software that does not come with a product key and, therefore, it does not need to be registered with Microsoft. (If you have an online Microsoft account, it’s up to you if you want to register the laptop itself.) One more thing, once you’re done with setup process, you’ll notice that OneDrive is the default for synchronizing. If you’re not familiar with OneDrive, go online to understand what it’s for and how it works. Contact the seller via Amazon’s communication feature for anything. Just click his name on the right side of the product description page and you’ll arrive at the seller’s profile with the link for communication in the upper right corner.

No Free Lunch is still the truth, not advertising
Product itself is good, though start up time is slow compared to my previous HP laptop bought several years ago. The key issue is the Microsoft Office 2024 life time free license that promised to be pre-instlled and no key to activiated as advertised. Like most of the feedback received by Amazon, my lapatop also shipped without the promised Microsoft Office 2024 preinstalled. I asked their customer service, which is very responsive with same day reply, tell me to reutrn for fixing the problem, which I did with their returned label. But when received the returned laptop, the software is still not installed. This time when I asked their custoer service, which is still very responsive, but the answer is Office 365 is better, asked me to subscribe it instead.I admitted that taking advantage of getting the free life time license for Microsoft Office 2024 is the reason of buying this laptop, and pay to subscribe the software is consumer’s discretion. And this time I have no choice if need the Office software to work on my Word, Excel files.Who’s responsibility, the seller’s not so true advertising or my ignorance of believing in free lunch still exists?

ABSOLUTELY PISSED OFF!
Update to my first complaint. I can’t explain how upsetting this is. Missed the window Apr 27th to return because on Apr 29th my son’s computer stopped working. First started with the touch pad and now the CMOS checksum is invalid. It’s only been ONE MONTH and he’s in the middle of his finals in college and the computer is NOT WORKING! This is NOT ACCEPTABLE and I have contacted Amazon customer service but only to be told to wait for this seller to respond in 48 hours. How can my son wait for 2 days to see if the computer can be fixed when his finals ARE DUE NOW. I am so extremely upset with this because I bought based on ratings. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE, AMAZON NEEDS TO VET THESE 3rd PARTY SELLERS BETTER!!!!! Look at what my son had to deal with this computer!!! I am so ANGRY because he is helpless when HP support is not available due to being CEntRAL TIME ZONED and his college can’t help with his computer unless it was purchased through the school. UNBELIEVABLE!!!

I am extremely happy with my new HP Laptop! Shipping was fast. Product was boxed safely. Instructions were perfect. Just remember to skip over the free limited 365 Microsoft plan to get to the Free Microsoft Office. Yes, it took a bit to update but that’s normal for any computer IMO. I bypassed all the offers and apps and locked down my privacy settings. This thing has tons of storage. Turns on super fast and runs like a rabbit in a race. LOL. So happy I upgraded from my Lenovo.
